About

Located in Liverpool Street, Moshi Moshi offers a distinctive private dining experience that combines exceptional Japanese cuisine with a striking, design-led setting. This pioneering sushi restaurant is the creation of Kaneshiro Kyusaku, one of Japan’s leading restaurant designers, celebrated for reviving the nation’s love of its own cultural heritage. His work here blends tradition with a contemporary edge, resulting in interiors that are as memorable as the food.

The highlight for group dining is the restaurant’s unique pod - a tunnel-like wooden structure with a banquet-style table running its length. Lined with curved timber panels, soft lighting and intimate seating, it creates a warm, cocoon-like feel perfect for celebrations, business dinners or relaxed gatherings with friends. There’s also counter seating for sushi lovers who want to be close to the action, as well as booth seating for smaller groups.

Menus showcase seasonal, sustainably sourced ingredients, supporting local producers wherever possible. Guests can enjoy artfully presented dishes such as scallop sashimi, chicken teriyaki, mackerel tiradito and platters of fresh sashimi or tempura. Tapas-style small plates include edamame, seaweed salad, vegetable gyoza and soft-shell crab tempura, while heartier options range from chicken katsu curry to sushi sets with nigiri, maki and rolls. Desserts include indulgent chocolate pots, delicate mochi rice cakes and homemade ice creams.

The drinks list features sake, Japanese beers, wines, cocktails, soft drinks and specialty teas, ensuring the perfect pairing for every dish. If you want to host your own event outside of the restaurant, Moshi Moshi can also cater for parties and private dining, specialising in miniature bite-sized sushi.

With its distinctive design, commitment to sustainability and versatile seating options, Moshi Moshi delivers a private dining experience in the City that is both authentic and unforgettable

Testimonials for Moshi Moshi

Hugh Ferneally Whittingstall AUGUST, 2025

On our 20th Birthday celebtrations back in 2014 Hugh Ferneally Whittingstall was there, and says:  "Walking into Moshi Moshi for the first time, almost 20 years ago to the day, was one of the most memorable 'first impression' moments of my restaurant reviewing career. The location, the design, the buzz - it all felt very new and exciting. But being suspended in a cool glass capsule over the rail tracks, and sitting on chic minimalist furniture, would have counted for nothing if it wasn't for the outstanding quality of the sushi. Two decades later it is immensely to the credit of Caroline Bennett and her team that MM is still one of the best places to eat Japanese food in the capital. Not only that, but they are flying the flag for sustainably caught fish in a way that proves that even in the ruthless environment of the London restaurant scene it's still possible to stick to your principles and make a success of your business."

Excellent mealFEBRUARY, 2025

We went on February 14th for a special meal arranged in conjunction with Chef Lewis Bassett and Slow Food. There was a set menu but the staff were very good at adjusting to suit our foibles. The 3 starters were all good but the Pickled mussels and Oyster with apple mignonette were different and very good. The next dish of Raw scallop with whey and preserved cucumber was outstanding and my favourite item of the meal. My main of squid sausage, wilted greens and 2 sauces, one of smoked scallop roe and one of sepia was good and the scallop roe was excellent. My wife had tempura for her main and it was good. The desert was changed for us to raspberries and cream, delicious. The set wines were all well chosen and the Sake was very good. Many thanks to Caroline and her staff for and excellent meal.
