Mono Pizza is a friendly, independent restaurant in the heart of Basingstoke, with private dining capabilities, charming decor and authentic Italian food. So, if you’re looking for a relaxed but considered venue for your next birthday party or work night, the team would be delighted to host you. The main restaurant can hold up to 75 seated guests, while the outdoor terrace can hold a further 25, perfect during the summer months.
The story behind the restaurant makes gathering here feel even more special. Born of the community, the business was started by husband-and-wife team Timofei and Veronica Dragan, because of their love of authentic Neapolitan cuisine. At first, they tested the waters with a food van, and when that went down a storm, they realised it was time to create something longer-lasting, leading to their own permanent restaurant. After becoming a hit with locals in such an interactive way, the restaurant is now a natural meeting place for many in the local area, where people come together to celebrate.
Of course, a major reason for booking Mono Pizza is the food. Timofei has connections to Italy and even has a legacy of a Michelin-starred restaurant in his family. He has poured his years of experience working under chefs in both London and Italy into the menu, which is all about wholesome produce and proper Italian flavours. Highlights on the menu include handcrafted pizzas, some generational recipes and products like Salamino, a spicy Italian salami.
As for the menu, you might want to start with some antipasti for the table, with smaller bites like cured meats, buffalo mozzarella, house salad, olives and bruschetta. The heart of the menu is pizza with a mix of options, from the Rebby with mozzarella, pancetta, fresh basil, onion, ’nduja, Parmesan and olive oil, to the Crudo with fresh cherry tomatoes, rocket, prosciutto di Parma and Parmesan. Finish the evening off nicely with a classic tiramisu.
