There's private dining, and then there's private dining at Harborne Kitchen. Opened in 2016, Harborne Kitchen brings together the vision of head chef Tom Wells with a selection of tasting menus, anchored in a diverse mixture of creative, experimental dishes.
The main restaurant is smart and contemporary with a shiny, open kitchen allowing guests to peek some of the action, paired with rich, dark blue walls and warm-toned wooden furniture. But, if you have a special occasion coming up - from a big birthday to an important client meeting - consider booking the Walter Smith Private Dining Room for a really unforgettable experience.
This exclusive space gets its name from the building's former use as Walter Smith's butchers, a well-known and popular local business which began in 1875 and stayed within the family right up until the inception of Harborne Kitchen. The team are proud to say that Walter Smith's grandson, John, still visits the former shop today, and is a regular customer of the restaurant.
This story gives some insight into how important history, locality and good, honest food are to the team, something you'll enjoy in abundance when dining here. The private dining space is located upstairs with a capacity for 12 people around a central table and its very own kitchen, so you'll benefit from a private chef for the night and all the theatre that comes with.
Each booking is unique, so you're welcome to talk to the team about your ideas including decorations or custom menu. If you'd like to get an idea of what to expect food wise, though, the website shares a sample tasting menu which is 10 courses and showcases dishes such as Lake District hogget with Wye Valley asparagus and wild garlic, alongside fillet of cod with Dorset mussel and turnip and Yorkshire rhubarb with custard and cinnamon toast.
