Akoya is both a desire to show off Lebanese heritage and, more surprisingly, sneakers. The husband and wife team here are already owners of a luxury footwear brand that has multiple sites, including one in the affluent area of Knightsbridge, but have since turned their hands to owning a restaurant. Whilst the two things fall into fairly separate categories, they have combined the passions through the decor in the restaurant with a floral sneaker tree and floating bearbricks. The rest of the room gives off a dark and moody vibe, with plush navy sofas lining the walls, hardwood flooring, and lights that give off a low golden hue.
Aside from the main section of the venue, there is also the Pink Room available for private hire. The clues in the name with this one, as it consists of pink walls, pink chairs and even pink napkins. The only range of colour comes from a flower feature in the corner of the room that spreads across the ceiling (and makes for a great photo backdrop). This stunning space is able to fit up to 22 people, with bespoke packages also available to cater to every event.
The food menu follows a traditional Lebanese theme, with a range of salads, mezze plates and grill options. Expect dishes like halloumi fattoush, chicken shish and falafel wraps, as well as sweet treats such as baklava and Mahalabia which is a creamy milk pudding garnished with mixed nuts and honey. There is even a selection of Shisha available for those who wish. For wines, you’ll find almost exclusively Lebanese wines, plus a few other European options like chianti and prosecco, that make for the perfect pairing alongside the Lebanese fare.
Akoya sits in prime location along the ultra chic Portobello Road and is easily accessible by tube with its proximity to Ladbroke Grove station, making it an ideal spot for your next private dinner.
