Looking for a venue for your next event? Be it a brand launch or important corporate gathering, The Grand in the heart of York promises elegant surroundings, fine dining-standard catering and space for up to 120 people.
The building was first opened in 1906 and is a gorgeous example of Edwardian Baroque Revival architecture. This was originally the headquarters for North Eastern Railway and was even described as a ‘Palace of Business’ - while today it is very much a hotel, meeting rooms and corporate spaces are still a priority.
For events of any kind, be it a meeting or party, the Grand Ballroom is the perfect place to bring together up to 100 people. It boasts parquet flooring, huge sparkling chandeliers and impressive windows. Tables can be set up as you need, with either a spread of round tables for a seated meal, or more space for networking and socialising.
The Chairman’s Suite was once the office of the Chair of the North Eastern Railway and works wonderfully for an important board meeting or a private dining supper. Here, 40 people can easily gather around a table. Walls are clad in ornate, carved wood and the whole room carries a sense of atmosphere.
The Gibb Suite is another stylish space, this time slightly more pared back and modern. It's a great option for meetings because it has a wallmounted plasma TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and tea and coffee machines, with space for up to 14 people. Similarly, The Ridley Suite has the same look and feel, with space for 12 people around one table, or 20 for drinks and canapes.
But, it's not just about the spaces available at The Grand, which make it an ideal spot for entertaining. Sitting in the centre of York, it's easy to get to, while with 207 bedrooms upstairs your guests can also stay the night, meaning no long journey home.
