Sitting on iconic Ship Street in Brighton, The Golden Peacock is one of the region's most dynamic North Indian restaurants - and, a fabulous place to host a special occasion. Nestled in the heart of the city, it's surrounded by buzzing nightlife which makes it the perfect place for bringing people together, and even heading out-out afterwards.
There are an impressive range of options for venue hire at The Golden Peacock. If you're planning a big, all-in shindig you can take over the whole venue which has capacity for up to 80 people, or for a more relaxed feel, half the space for around 30. Private banquets are also easily catered for here with a separate dining room able to hold up to 14 people.
Inside, the space is vibrant and creative, with bright blues and pinks across the colour scheme, bejwelled decor and even hanging installations of blossoms and plants. It's this colourful, engaging spirit that's also reflected in the restaurant's name - The Golden Peacock - which is inspired by India’s national bird, a symbol of joy, creativity and diversity.
The menu celebrates North Indian cuisine, focusing mainly on curry dishes, alongside a selection of starters, sides and desserts. To begin, you might try the carefully marinated tandoori chicken tikka cubes grilled in a clay oven and served with green herb chutney, or the crunchy broccoli slaw, tossed in crunchy seeds and a tangy dressing. A non-negotiable, though, has to be the TGP Special Fries which are formed of crunchy okra and covered in spices, gram flour and The Golden Peacock Magic Masala.
Across the main dishes, as mentioned it's mainly curries, with options like silky Old Delhi butter chicken and the Kerala Style Seafood Molly which combines seafood cooked in a fragrant coconut milk curry with a distinctly North Indian twist. There are plenty of dishes for vegetarian diners, from the mushroom pepper fry curry with plenty of garlic and roasted spices, as well as the Amritsari Cholle with an earthy, chickpea base.
