The name "Piccadilly" traces its roots in the 17th century when a tailor named Robert Baker sold a type of frilly collar known as a "piccadill." The addition of "circus" stems from the Latin word for "circle," referring to the circular intersection at the core of this landmark. Serving as one of London's most favoured tourist spots, Piccadilly Circus is home to the iconic Piccadilly screens and the Eros statue. This road junction and public space situated in the West End of London in the City of Westminster was constructed in 1819 to link Regent Street with Piccadilly. Piccadilly Circus offers a visitors a wide range of attractions for families, from exploring the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain to catching a show in the electric West End.
