No3 at Nightingale Place

No3 at Nightingale Place

3 Nightingale Lane, Clapham, London, SW4 9AH

The No3 bistro and restaurant, located at Audley Nightingale Place, opposite Clapham Common, is a modern and stylish venue that prioritises flexibility in order to make private events truly bespoke. The proximity to both the station and the common make this venue a truly impressive and practical space. The venue itself, originally an old police station, has been renovated to an airy and chic standard and boasts a 60-cover restaurant space as well as a private cinema and a heated outdoor terrace area.

The bistro and restaurant, open to the public, boasts an extensive range of food and drink menus that range from English classics like fish and chips to high end dishes like truffle and mushroom linguine. A charcuterie menu, which lists a wide range of English charcuterie from Dingley Dell, not only shows a twinge of innovation but also a real enthusiasm that makes this an event space with some real soul behind it. The range of food options as well as the venue facilities allows for a whole manner of events to be planned here. The head chef can prepare canapes for a more relaxed event, that could be taken outside, informally in the restaurant space or even at a screening in the private cinema. Should that not suit you, you can instead go for the option of a five-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and based on the enthusiasm for food here, this can be expected to impress.

No3 is designed to adhere to your needs, emphasised as it is that the event can be as large or small as you want it. The options of outdoor and indoor areas make it a good choice regardless of the season, the private cinema can accommodate a whole host of events and could be ideal for product launches as well as more creative uses and the bistro and restaurant is a beautiful setting in which to host a simple but elegant private dinner. Whatever your planning needs, the team at No3 can help your dream become a reality.

The Rose & Crown Clapham Old Town

The Rose & Crown Clapham Old Town

2 The Polygon, Clapham , London, SW4 0JG

The Rose & Crown in Clapham, which has recently undergone a major refurb, looks brilliant. It has two distinct spaces for private hire; a ground-floor pub with a marbled fireplace and a smart first-floor dining room. The brick and terracotta coloured tiled exterior has remained, as has the soul of a classic pub, but the interior feels modern and chic - filled with wood and complemented by colour pops of orange and walnut.

The whole space has been given a major face lift, right down to the new stemmed beer glasses. A new outside terrace area, which overlooks Clapham piazza, has added a fresh feel to the outside, a great space to enjoy a drink on a warm day. This would be a brilliant place to host an event or party, purely down to versatility alone - whether you’re looking to host a sophisticated event or a casual get together,The Rose & Crown has a space for you.

Both the a la carte (first floor) and the ‘nibbles’ menu (ground floor) focus on seasonal British fare and, much like the decor, retain options reminiscent of the classic pub with dishes such as battered fish and chips and a burger with triple-cooked chips. More modern fare is also available: salted cod beignets sit alongside asparagus with cured egg yolks and parmesan custard. The pub’s dessert list is indulgent, think sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch and dulce de leche ice cream as well as the signature cardamom and date sticky toffee pudding.

The drinks list has been carefully curated and selected by sommeliers, home to some great picks for very reasonable prices. Of course, should that not take your fancy, there is a good list of draught beers as well as spirits and soft drinks. The Rose and Crown feels very much like a new-wave pub, not in a way that will leave you longing for the good old days but more in the way that makes you ever grateful for a pub that serves great drinks and great food, the perfect venue in which to host.

Humble Grape Battersea

Humble Grape Battersea

2 Battersea Rise, London, SW11 1ED

As the name suggests, wine is central to this Battersea venue’s offering, where the team imports the good stuff from small, sustainable vineyards. Removing the middle man provides customers with quality bottles at hard-to-beat prices – with relaxed tasting evenings a regular fixture. Groups can book exclusive sessions, for all-level teambuilding events – alternatively, the experts can travel to you. We like the sound of a blind-tasting competition before a seated dinner, while the ‘Tour de France’ and ‘History of Wine in London’ both sound like fun too. Packages range from entry level to high end and the restaurant serves modern European dishes.

Based on Wandsworth Common, this stunning venue is housed inside the Royal Victoria Patriotic Building and is steeped in history. Featuring a number of glorious turrets and spires which live up to its name, the venue also benefits from a hidden gem of a garden situated within the building. Le Gothique has a number of different spaces which can be privately hired, which when combined with the garden, location and other outstanding facilities, make it a pretty special venue to hire for your event.

Regardless of what type of event you are wanting to host, and what time of year you are hosting it, there are options to suit every need at Le Gothique. The Gothic Bar is perfect for indoor drinks parties and can fit up to 100 people standing or 40 people if you’re looking to host a banquet-style dinner. However, it’s the availability of the secluded garden to hire that makes Le Gothique quite such a special venue. Whether you are wanting to host an outdoor conference, a product-launch, or simply a summer drinks party, the garden is guaranteed to provide a memorable backdrop to your event.

South West Eleven

South West Eleven

279 Battersea Park Road, Battersea, London, SW11 4NE

A bar, performance and event space, South West Eleven is a smart choice for event planners looking to hire a space in the heart of Battersea. South West Eleven is available for exclusive hire and can accommodate all manner of occasions, from the corporate to the personal.

South West Eleven is a large venue that is something of a blank canvas. Sleek black walls add an air of sophistication, while wooden flooring and a dedicated bar wrapped in exposed brick tie the space together. The venue also boasts ample seating for small groups, including booths and bench-style tables, making it ideal for standing events where you still want guests to have the option to sit down and take a breather should they need it.

South West Eleven’s USP is undoubtedly its line-up of street food menus which can be provided for your event. There are two vendors to choose from, namely Honi Poke and Honi Sushi. The former serves up protein-fuelled Hawaiian poke bowls, which are filled with the likes of chicken, falafel or chorizo. These nifty little bowls are sure to get your guests talking and are easy to eat standing up, making them ideal for more casual standing receptions. They also make for perfect Instagram fodder, if you want your event to be one that guests shout about on social media.

Alternatively, you can try Honi Sushi, a street food concept where the menu includes sushi, sashimi, donburi bowls and even desserts. Tuck into the likes of salmon and avocado rolls, or instead opt for a salmon donburi bowl (salmon sashimi served on a bed of sushi rice). To finish up, delight in a dessert of strawberry cheesecake mochi. This style of food is great for sharing, so it’s well suited to small groups and relaxed sit-down occasions.

Chokhi Dhani

Chokhi Dhani

Unit E2, 2 Riverlight Quay, Battersea, London, SW8 5AW

The interiors at the majestic Chokhi Dhani in Battersea are inspired by the grand maharajahs of Rajasthan in India. Already successful around the world, the hospitality group’s first London outpost serves traditional Rajasthani thali and celebrates its heritage through the collection of authentic artworks that fill the building, many of which are available to buy.

We’d recommend Chokhi Dhani for intimate events when you still want to pack a powerful punch. Upon entering the main dining room, guests are greeted by a two-tonne, 14-foot bronze elephant (the work of artist Vivek K Agrawal), which acts as an introduction to the opulent surrounds.

Chokhi Dhani’s private dining room is equally as eye-catching – full of character, the space features intricate wall carvings, original artwork and glittering chandeliers. Guests sit on one long polished table, with the room able to host seated dinners for up to 14 people. Alternatively, the space can accommodate up to 30 guests for a standing cocktail and canapé reception.

The room is well-suited to a variety of events, including business meetings and corporate dinners, while there are some fun touches too – a magician visits the restaurant a couple of times a week.

Chokhi Dhani’s menu majors in theatrically presented signature dishes, alongside classic Rajasthani small plates and grills from the tandoor. Highlights include kadak momo chaat (a deep-fried potato basket filled with crispy vegetable dumplings and spicy chickpeas laced with tangy tamarind sauce) and chicken thighs cooked to perfection on the tandoor.

Guests can quench their thirst with Indian-themed cocktails and an interesting wine list, while the restaurant’s riverside views are a further draw.

From intimate private dinners through to red carpet grand affairs, the team at Battersea Power House are on hand to help with every detail. Attentive event curators will guide you through all the steps to realise your vision, while on the day the team of professional bartenders, skilful chefs and recommended suppliers will ensure everything goes without a hitch.

Anyone has attended any kind of event knows that the food and drinks are one of the most important elements, and Battersea Power House do things a bit differently. Going against the grain they refuse to settle for a standard package, and instead have a dedicated group of blue-sky thinkers on hand to dream up inventive cocktails, canapes and menus based around your requirements. As with all of the best venues in London they also cater for all dietary issues too, so that all guests can be catered for at the same high level.

There are four different spaces to choose from at Battersea Power House, depending on the size and scale of your event. At the heart of the power station is the Generator Hall, the perfect place for an exhibition or large-scale banquet. Elsewhere there’s the 1930s grandeur of the Control Room A which is ideal for unique weddings or even fashion shows. The Switch Room has rooms of Turbine Hall B so is impactful for private reception or big business meetings. Finally there’s the riverfront Connector Terrace which has sweeping views of the River Thames and is gorgeous in warmer weather for al fresco entertaining.

All events at Battersea Power House are run by Camm & Hooper, one of London’s most experienced event coordinators, so you know you’ll be in safe hands.

Westminster Boating Base

Westminster Boating Base

136 Grosvenor Road, Westminster, London, SW1V 3JY

Fans of 2003 rom-com Love Actually may recognise this venue (taste explosion, anyone?) as the setting for Peter and Juliet’s reception, but when it isn’t appearing in blockbuster films, it acts as a memorable spot for all manner of events. Whether it’s a wedding reception, summer party, barbecue, Christmas party, conference or any other large gathering you can think of, the experienced in-house events team will be on hand to offer their expertise and ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible.

Set in Pimlico Gardens, this unique riverside space gives guests unobstructed views of the Thames through floor-to-ceiling windows and from outside on the terrace, and offers a brilliantly versatile space for theming and decorating. The standout rooms, which are linked by an atrium and used in combination for events, are the Pavilion, which extends over the river, and the Edgson Room, which comes with a covered balcony and is equipped with special effects lighting and speakers for music and dancing.

Westminster Boating Base’s packages are designed to include all the essential items you’d require for a typical event, and the team can be flexible when it comes to timings. All costs are laid out upfront so you won’t have to fear a bill filled with extra changes after your event has taken place. What’s more, Westminster Boating Base is actually a charitable organisation meaning that the venue hire fee goes directly to support the Trust’s charitable activities for young people – an element that many organisations consider an important factor.

With design influence and inspiration taken from both the Thames and the Mezzogiorno region of Italy, the restaurant features pastel colours, light wood throughout, vivid blue seating and floor to ceiling windows, making the space look open and airy.

Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea

Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea

4 Arches Lane, Battersea, London, SW11 8AB

Making the most of one of Battersea Power Station’s railway arches, with exposed brickwork and ducting that doffs a cap to the site’s heritage, this chef-lead operation serving Vivek Singh’s elegant dishes is a well-crafted design mashup mixing industrial cool with modern luxury.

It’s a flexible space for parties of varied sizes, too, capped by an eye-catching ‘caged’ mezzanine that comfortably seats 20 on one long table, or more for a stand-up occasion with canapes or bowl food. A wonderful contradiction between privacy and a piece of look-at-me restaurant design, it’s certainly a unique eyrie from which to enjoy views of the restaurant below, with its elegant furniture and warm lighting, as well as the open kitchen with its chef’s counter.

Singh’s masterful modern Indian menu is always a delight: think tender tandoor chicken, pink lamb, moreishly spicy prawns or signatures like seared sea bass in a spiced Kerala sauce and grilled duck breast with Goan vindaloo spices. Desserts are a speciality, too, such as sticky ginger toffee pudding, hot chocolate mousse or lassi panna cotta, matched to a suitable wine, if you like.

Cocktails devised by ace mixologist Tony Conigliaro are an added bonus, while good space, both on a terrace outside or in the bar area means groups can meet for a drink before the main event. Staff are another bonus – always friendly, enthusiastic and well trained.

Bermondsey Larder

Bermondsey Larder

153-157 Tower Bridge Road, London, London, SE1 3LW

With its warm and relaxed atmosphere coupled with creative British plates, Bermondsey Larder sets the perfect stage for you to entertain from. There's an experienced team on hand too, so there's little for you to do beyond booking your spot, picking your ideal menu, and turning up on the day to wine and dine your guests.

Menus can be tailored depending on your party needs, but our favourite option is always the set menu which offers diners a real flavour of the talented team’s creativity. It’s with these that Robin Gill – the much-lauded chef proprietor – puts his personality on a plate. With a passion for sourcing and using the finest produce available from across the UK, Gill has successfully created a signature style of fresh, vibrant dishes that appear simple but have surprisingly complex flavour profiles.

These tasting menus give your guests a really indulgent dining experience (Which crucially also won’t break the bank, set courses here start from under £50 per head and can be tweaked to requirements). Courses are seasonally led, so flex from month to month, but example plates include delicate sole with courgettes and preserved lemon, as well as a piece of Swaledale beef rump with a rich potato terrine, onion puree and spinach. Supplementary cheese courses celebrate some of Britain’s greatest cheese makers and options might include things like a truffled Baron Bigod with fig and walnut toast plus locally sourced honey. If you’d prefer a slightly shorter set, other arrangements can be made and include options like canapes to have with drinks or sharing platters to share between guests.

In keeping with the theme, a well thought out drinks list is also on offer, and the team will happily make pairing suggestions should you wish to add a wine flight to your event.

The venue can welcome up to 28 guests on the private mezzanine level, 70 on the ground floor and 98 across the entire venue. The Arch House is able to host parties, work events, craft classes and (naturally) beer tastings, with the welcoming space featuring high ceilings and hanging pendant lighting, while beer fridges and brewing equipment is also on full display, sure to be a talking point among guests.

The bar is found towards the back of the space, serving a range of classic beers, alongside some special sips. Guests can settle down on long communal bench tables, which make it easy for everyone at the table to interact with ease, ensuring that no one gets left out of the conversation. For private moments though, smaller groups can gather around upstanding beer barrels flanked by high stools or head outside for a spot of fresh air.

The Arch House does not serve food, but guests are welcome to bring in dishes from the nearby
Maltby Street Food Market and Druid Street Food Market, where you can find a whole host of globe-trotting street food traders serving up the likes of beef steaks, gyozas and even duck frites.

The AHOY Centre

The AHOY Centre

Borthwick Street, Deptford, London, SE8 3JY

Benefiting from views of the Cutty Sark and Canary Wharf, Deptford’s AHOY Centre – a registered charity – utilises its waterside location to the full, with teambuilding, for the most part, the name of the game. What you might not know is that the venue is also well suited to conferencing. Its main function room, the 200-capacity Sir William Boreman Hall, has a balcony that overlooks the Thames, letting in plenty of light. Like the smaller seminar room, which holds 60, it comes with free Wi-Fi, overhead projector link-ups and a PA system with projection screens. There’s also an 18-capacity rowing gym for groups needing some practice before their post-meeting teambuilding activities.

The Cinnamon Club

The Cinnamon Club

The Old Westminster Library, 30-32 Great Smith Street, St. James's, London, SW1P 3BU

The stately backdrop of Grade II-listed Old Westminster Library gives this upmarket Indian a sophisticated private-club feel. The interiors have been enhanced by a recent makeover, but it’s not the restaurant’s only draw. Assured cooking ranges from canapés to exceptional tandoori meats. These can be served on the elegant Gallery above the main dining room, where privacy is matched with buzz from the busy restaurant. Elsewhere, the Reading Room is the ideal choice for medium sized events with a range of possible table formations, while the modern Downstairs Bar is a cosy spot to host early evening drinks. Full takeovers can also be accommodated for lavish occasions where making a big impression is paramount.

Capacities

The private dining room occupies the old Reading Room of the former library, and is located adjacent to the Main Dining Room and has similar grandeur, marked out by luxurious, heavy blue drapes and attractive duck-egg blue walls. Glass panelling separates the two rooms, which allows privacy whilst at the same time retaining the feel of the restaurant.  Ideal for either sit-down meals for up to 60 or standing canapé receptions for more.

Overlooking the main dining room, the Gallery offers guests a private area within the restaurant itself. Set above the main dining room, this eyrie benefits fully from the ambience and 'buzz' of the main restaurant below. The room is ideal for a range of informal events such as birthday, anniversaries, team celebrations, networking events and gastronomic receptions – from 12 to 32 (seated). One of our hiddengem favourites.

The Library Bar is the original Reading room in the old Westminster Library, and the room retains a relaxed atmosphere. The room is also available for private dining events at lunchtime and is ideal for smaller, more formal corporate lunches. Seating capacity 24 or 50 (reception-style).

Their award winning canapé, bowl food and range of set menus give you a range of options to choose from, so your guests can experience classic Cinnamon Club dishes like roast loin of Oisin red deer with black stone flower or Roast Gressingham duck breast with sesame tamarind chutney. Speciality cocktails and a beautifully selected wine list complete a very special private dining experience.

Tanner Warehouse

Tanner Warehouse

50 Bermondsey Street, Southwark, London, SE1 3UD

Found on bustling Bermondsey Street just a short walk from both London Bridge and Borough tube stations, Tanner Warehouse is a rustic-chic space, which (as its name suggests) was once a tannery.

Full of character and charm, the converted warehouse is an events space that can accommodate for a range of functions, from corporate gigs to private parties. The warehouse can accommodate up to 150 guests for seated events, or 350 for standing receptions. There’s also the option to take over the venue’s neighbouring Tanner & Co restaurant should you need some extra space.

Speaking of restaurants, the food at Tanner Warehouse is one of its strongest draws. Menus here are devised by executive head chef Ronnie Murray, who has previous experience in the kitchens of J Sheekey, Scott’s, The Ivy and other long-standing London haunts. Murray’s menu often champions traditional and contemporary takes on British classics, but is easily adaptable; offering everything from canapés to banquet-style feasting, while also being able to cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests.

As any good event planner knows, it’s just as important to keeping guests watered is just as important as making sure they’re well fed. If you’re hosting a party or evening event, Tanner Warehouse boasts a 50-strong cocktail list for guests to choose from, as well as a range of new and old world wines. Teetotallers haven’t been forgotten about either, with guests able to enjoy barista coffee and house made cordials.

We think that the beauty of Tanner Warehouse is the venue’s versatility. During the summer season, the courtyard at the venue is ideal for an intimate alfresco cocktail party, while the main space is great for event planners looking for a corporate space that doesn’t feel stuffy or too serious, with up-to-date AV equipment coming as standard.

This purpose-built Westminster venue is no stranger to high-profile clients, responsible for hosting over 400 national and international events annually. The QEII Centre is a large conference and exhibition space near Westminster Abbey and St. James Park walking distance from Big Ben and the Thames River. The public and private transportation links are excellent, the closest underground stop is Westminster and the mainline station Waterloo is easy to get to. There are also plenty of hotels in the local area with short commuting distances for delegates attending your event.

Its 32 event spaces hold up to 2,500 delegates, and conferences and exhibitions work well here. A major refurb, including a renovated façade, new breakout spaces and improved lighting, was recently completed. We’re big fans of the Churchill, whose slightly raked seating means everyone gets a good view. The larger rooms work well for banquets and drinks receptions.

The versatile spaces are ideal for organising conferences, exhibitions, awards dinners, receptions, or corporate events. Offering great views of Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, the venue will impress. The rooms can be hired individually or in combination for different purposes like break out sessions or refreshments areas.
