Your Christmas party deserves a venue with personality and the good news is that The Griffin in Amersham Old Town has plenty of it. Combining the warmth of a neighbourhood restaurant with the polish of a casual fine dining destination, it's just the spot for a festive celebration and a far cry from the corporate function rooms of old.
There are two distinctive private spaces to choose from, each offering a different atmosphere. Upstairs, the beautifully restored Mezzanine boasts exposed wooden beams running across the ceilings and walls, creating an inviting backdrop that's particularly apt during the festive season. Seating up to 25 guests, it's ideal for intimate Christmas dinners and private celebrations. Better still, you'll have the room from 6pm until midnight, giving everyone plenty of time to settle in, celebrate and enjoy the evening without feeling rushed. There's no hire fee either, simply a minimum spend, making it an appealing option for smaller groups.
For larger festive gatherings, The Assembly Room accommodates up to 30 guests for a seated meal or 60 standing. Decorated with soft pink walls, striking artwork and a feature fireplace, it feels elegant without being overly formal. Guests are welcome to access the room from 11am to add their own festive decorations (subject to prior bookings), while the bar remains licensed until midnight. You're also welcome to bring your own celebration cake, adding a personal touch to the occasion.
Entertainment is encouraged. Whether you fancy live singers performing Christmas classics, a murder mystery evening or another interactive experience, The Griffin is happy to help create an event that's far more memorable than a standard festive dinner.
As for catering, this is provided in house with Christmas menus which receive a seasonal update each year. Previous three-course menus have included warming sweet potato, coconut and chilli soup or seasonal croquettes to start, followed by dishes such as Chiltern venison leg with sourdough dumpling, red cabbage purée and blackberries, or beautifully cooked seasonal fish with braised fennel and buckwheat. Desserts have featured comforting favourites including sticky toffee pudding served with gingerbread gelato and caramelised pecans.
