The Engineer offers a choice of characterful spaces for company Christmas parties, festive team socials, client entertaining and gatherings with family and friends. From a sit-down seasonal meal to a more relaxed standing celebration with drinks, the pub provides a range of settings that can be tailored to suit different occasions and group sizes, with festive food and drinks packages to match.
The Brunel Bar is the largest of the spaces, accommodating up to 38 guests seated or 60 standing. Located on the upper level and named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel, it comes with its own private bar and a festive red colour scheme perfect for the season. For smaller Christmas meals, the Downstairs Restaurant offers an intimate, semi-private setting for up to 24 seated guests. The Snug, meanwhile, accommodates up to 20 guests standing, and can be used as a reception space pre-dinner or as the main location for a standing party with canapes.
Classic pub cooking works brilliantly for cosy festive celebrations. For seated dinners, The Engineer's festive menu kicks off with dishes such as glazed goat’s cheese with cranberry and mulled spice chutney, prawn cocktail or butternut squash and spiced pumpkin soup. Mains include pan-roasted duck breast, braised ox cheek and hand-carved turkey with Cumberland pigs in blankets, while desserts range from Christmas pudding to Bramley apple, plum and cranberry crumble and dark chocolate torte.
For more informal celebrations, there's a Christmas buffet menu, delivering a selection of savoury bites including cheeseburger sliders with Camembert and cranberry sauce, beef shin croquettes, smoked salmon rillettes, mushroom and black garlic arancini and Double Gloucester pork sausage rolls, followed by triple chocolate brownie, spiced sticky ginger cake and mince pies. Seasonal drinks packages are available, covering bottled and craft beers, premium wines, sparkling wine, spirits and warming cocktails like Espresso Martinis, with alcohol-free options also available.
