Red Dog Saloon in Nottingham is a Texan-inspired BBQ restaurant and bar available for exclusive hire for up to 130 people, and the team are welcoming festive bookings this year.
Located on Victoria Street, you couldn't ask for a better spot, just minutes from Nottingham's artsy Hockley district. There are plenty of bus and tram connections nearby, with the train station under a 15 minute walk away, making it ideal for bringing people together.
While the decor is inspired by the moody smokehouses of Austin, it still feels light and airy. The large dining room is characterised by rustic wooden flooring, large tables and deep red booths, with interesting details like mix-match chairs and vintage wine bottled filled with candles for extra atmosphere. While there are huge windows across the facade which bring natural light into the space, come December, the lighting brings a welcome, cosy ambience with pendant and wall lights.
As for the menu, all good Christmas parties start with a welcome drink. For something a little softer, there's Oreo, vanilla and strawberries and cream frozen custard malt shakes or iced tea - Southern style - in lemon, peach, original or with a shot of Finlandia vodka. Cocktails are big, too, with a selection of Margaritas including strawberry and mint, classic or Tommy's mezcal. The sours span Pisco, Cherry Mash and Green Apple, with classics like Espresso Martinis, Negronis, White Russians and Old Fashioneds on offer, too.
Food is meat-centric but there are options for vegetarian diners, too. Burgers feature an aged USDA chuck steak and are served with fries, onion rings or tater tots, and homemade dill pickle. Some favourite dishes include the Rodeo with American cheese, streaky bacon and onion strings, while the Philly Cheeseburger has wafer thin rib eye, caramelised onion, cheese whiz, American cheese and Red Dog sauce. For vegetarian diners, the Beyond Meat burger comes with baby gem, heritage tomato, American cheese and homemade dill pickle. While the hickory smoked BBQ section features everything from platters to trays to hoagies, and the likes of half a chicken, chopped pork, hot links and burnt ends.
