Mortimer House’s ideal location in the heart of Fitzrovia and abundance of private hire spaces make it a perfect choice for all manner of events, not least Christmas parties. If you’re looking for somewhere chic to hold your festivities, Mortimer House has elegance in spades, but it also has a trump card in the form of Christmas menus, which take inspiration from holiday destinations like Orta San Giulio and the Amalfi Coast. All the dishes on this year’s menu have been developed from recipes shared by the team’s grandmothers, so Christmas at Mortimer House really is a family occasion.
Christmas menus at Mortimer House arrive in feasting form, offering up homemade focaccia with olive oil and mushroom arancini to start, followed by burrata with fig, radicchio, and pomegranate; beef carpaccio with rocket and grana padano; and a radicchio salad with clementines and caramelised pecans. For the main event, it's braised ox cheeks al Montepulciano served with soft parmesan polenta alongside sides of confit potatoes and a rocket salad. To finish, there's a rich tiramisu complete with caramelised pecans. It also offers the chance to swap out ox cheek for an impressive roasted porchetta with stewed cabbage and guanciale, or add on toasted panettone with pistachio ice cream.
Tables in the main restaurant are available to book, but those planning something larger and more intimate should check out Mortimer House’s peaceful private dining room, where up to 10 guests can sit around a cosy kitchen table and enjoy a private celebration. Or, head up to the foliage-laden Conservatory - a larger private space suitable for up to 20 seated guests. Better still, hire out the Loft & Gallery for up to 65, where a private balcony offers views across the city.
