Exmouth Market is magical come Christmastime, so if you're looking for an independent restaurant with a private dining room to host your celebration, look no further than Moro which has been in this spot for over 25 years.
A household name in east London, Moro first opened its doors in 1997, after chef couple Sam and Sam Clark discovered their love for the cuisines of Spain, Morocco and the Sahara after a recipe-hunting trip. Today, there are two restaurants and a deli, with the Exmouth Market site bieng the original.
Moro enthusiastically welcomes private events, especially over the festive period, with a private dining room and full venue hire available, too. You'll find the exclusive dining room space just off the iconic pass with capacity for 32 people seated around a custom-built U-shaped banquet table, designed for easily bringing people together and socialising over food. The decor is richly-hued in a verdent green, personality is brought through large, expressive artworks and the whole space is atmospherically lit with candlelight. You can also use this space for standing gatherings which ups the capacity to 35 people.
If you're hoping to throw a bigger get-together, consider Moro's full takeover option which gives you run of the entire restaurant with a capacity of 100 people seated or a 150 people standing.
As for food, all catering is provided in house by the talented Moro team who have devised a seasonal menu for the occasion. Guests can choose three courses from a set menu with starters including braised chicory, Picos Blu sauce, toasted hazelnuts and lemon thyme, alongside charcoal grilled quail with winter tabbouleh and pistachio sauce. Mains look like roast duck fattee with jewelled rice, pomegranates, yoghurt and walnuts, alongside charcoal grilled lamb with slow cooked leeks, farika and hot mint sauce, and wood roasted pork belly with roasted vegetables and quince alioli.
