Mad Swans takes the idea of a classic staycation and turns it into something even more fun, reimagining countryside stays as a playground for adults. The brand has two locations, one in the South Downs and another, Mendips in Bristol, where you'll find a selection of stylish events spaces available for birthdays, hen dos, corporate events, brand trips and Christmas parties, too.
The Mendips site has a country-chic feel, taking form over a set of sprawling farmhouses. Between the golf course, tennis courts and eco cabins, there's plenty to do, but there's also a mix of restaurants and events options if you want to book in this year's Christmas party.
The hero space has to be The Farmhouse which has capacity for up to 150 people. This option is perfect for larger celebrations such as all-company Christmas parties - and it's easy to see why. As the name suggests, this farmhouse-esque structure boasts gorgeous, original stone walls and a vaulted wooden ceiling. It's these period features that make it really special, complemented by round wooden tables and soft green walls which finish the look. You're welcome to decorate the space and add your own festive touches, turning it into a real winter wonderland.
Another idea would be to go down the private dining route and book a larger table, or takeover the on-site, a la carte restaurant, The Potting Shed. Also hued green, this space fits the nature-led concept Mad Swans is known for with plenty of plants, soft textures and mixed prints across furnishings, as well as big windows and natural light (or, as much as December will allow).
Menus are proudly seasonal and champion the best of British produce. Expect a showstopping three-course festive feast, featuring the likes of chicken liver parfait with mulled fig chutney and toasted wholemeal waffles, followed by roasted suckling pig with spiced apple chutney, and Christmas pudding to finish.
