Nestled away in the heart of Leeds, Kerala Canteen brings an Indian twist for this year's festivities, making it the perfect Christmas party venue for those looking to mix things up. While you may be used to the classic turkey and pigs in blankets when Christmas swings around, there’s nothing stopping you venturing outside of the box this year – treating your guests to something super tasty.
Kerala Canteen blends time honoured traditions of Kerala with modern touches, with a mission that's rooted in the vibrant culture of India’s Malabar Coast, the colourful menu reimagines classic recipes with inventive touches that will keep you coming back for more. Kerala Canteen is all about sharing, so you can expect dishes to arrive fresh from the kitchen, ready for you to share amongst your family and friends. Chef Bobby Geetha holds the reins in the kitchen. He's a MasterChef: The Professionals quarter-finalist, and alumnus of several Michelin-starred restaurants.
There's a dedicated private dining space at Kerala Canteen, so you can rest assured that your guests will be able to relax in comfort. While we can’t be sure exactly what will be on the menu when Christmas comes around, we can give you a good taste of what kind of dishes Kerala Canteen is used to serving up. If you opt for the set menu, you'll get to pick a tapas plate, followed by a wholesome bowl, then a signature side, and one house dessert.
Small plates include paneer pepper fry with a masala sauce and pickled onions, the Trivandrum fried chicken with fried garlic yoghurt, and sea bass pollichathu with tempered cherry tomato and a tangy masala base. Bowls may include the delicious green seasonal vegetable korma cooked in a regional Nilgiri korma sauce, and flat iron beef and bone marrow curry. Biryani dishes, which are made for two, include the tender jackfruit biryani made using coconut yoghurt, and on the side, there are options of canteen porotta, red rice string hopper and basmati rice.
