Clearwell Castle is a magical venue to enjoy your Christmastime celebration in more ways than one. Combining a unique history, beautiful interiors and enchanting position surrounded by forest and woodlands, it offers a breath-taking backdrop to bring together friends or collegues and toast the end of the year in Gloucestershire.
It all started in the 1500s when the site was first developed and by the early 17th-century, Clearwell Castle had become an impressive estate, home to gentry and even the setting of a romantic scandal. Throughout the years, the castle's history has become only more interesting. For example, the 1970s saw it become temporary home to iconic muscians such as Queen and Led Zeppelin while one of the rooms turned into a recording studio. And, by the way, those who are lucky enough to stay in the Mermaid Suite can say they've shared a room with Freddie Mercury!
Since the late 1990s, Clearwell has belonged to a family-run events collective and so now, with over 25 years of experience of hosting, catering and essentially, pulling off every kind of party you could imagine, the team know how to throw a Christmas knees-up like no other. For your event, you can choose between the 150-person dining room, great hall, drawing room bar and cellar disco - or, lead your guests on an incredible journey throughout the evening between each one. Perhaps a welcome drink in the drawing room bar, a three-course supper in the ballroom, followed by dancing in the cellar. Luckily, this decision isn't entirely on your shoulders as Clearwell Castle has a dedicated events team to help you plan your event, make sure everything is executed perfectly and even be there on the day to support.
Another major plus of choosing Clearwell Castle for your Christmas party is the on-site accomodation - of which there are many options. From the 15 castle bedrooms, to the three estate cottages, and 24 guest rooms closeby at The Wyndham, there's room for everyone.
