Just around the corner from Liverpool Street in Devonshire Square, Anise’s seductive lighting and slick design make for an impressive Christmas party venue. This colourful, contemporary bar is found adjacent to Cinnamon Kitchen City - the Liverpool Street location of Vivek Singh’s accessible Indian restaurant group. Singh is the chef patron of highly regarded Indian restaurant Cinnamon Club in Westminster, and also oversees a number of Cinnamon Kitchen and Cinnamon Bazaar sites.
Refurbished at the end of 2025, by Alessio Nardi of A-nrd Design Studio, the designs nods to the building’s former life as a spice warehouse, blending rich, spice-inspired tones with terracotta textures and Indian craft touches. Elegant green drapes and plush booths creates a warm, stylish but nicely informal setting, ideal for parties.
Whether you want a non-traditional, sit-down Christmas dinner with a hint of spice or a stand-up drinks reception, Anise can cater for parties of 60 seated or 140 standing guests. Alternatively, parties can go alfresco, with a festive private drinks party on the heated terrace in the atrium outside the venue.
Meanwhile, the menu draws from Cinnamon Kitchen’s cuisine, offering accessible and delicious Indian cooking in various forms. You can host a seated Christmas banquet downstairs should you so choose. Alternatively, Anise makes a perfect space for a drinks party with canapes and bowl food. The Cinnamon Kitchen team can supply a menu of delicious bites (such as Goan spiced shrimps, Punjabi spiced fish fingers, and chargrilled chicken tikka with coriander chutney) as well as kathi wraps, bowl food, biryani bowls, and dessert canapes.
Anise Bar’s modern Indian cuisine is complemented by its signature spice-infused cocktails, which include a Coconut Kir (toasted coconut, coconut liqueur and vodka) and an Assam Manhattan (Assam black tea infused with Buffalo Trace, vermouth, maraschino and black cardamom) – both delicious. Th drinks list is a collaboration between bar manager Piyush Gouchwal and mixology legend Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan), and is long in non-alcoholic cocktails, too.
