The Buffalo Grill has stuck to its successful formula for more than 25 years, and continues on its merry carnivorous way as a convivial and informal eatery without frills. The menu centres on
burgers from the broiler and char-grilled steaks, the decor has flourishes of Americana (buffalo horns on the wall, prints of the Old West) and it’s unlicensed – hence BYO (£1 corkage). At
lunchtime, you might start with some buffalo wings and sour cream dip, move on to a steak sandwich or BBQ chicken, and finish with a slice of banana cream pie. In the evening, things get a little
more ambitious with shrimp tempura, beef teriyaki and jambalaya added to the mix, as well as premium beefy cuts – although it’s still possible to have a couple of courses for under £20 (baby back
ribs followed by a tortilla mexicana, for example). A second branch at 1 Raeburn Place (0131 332 3864) is licensed.
