This is one of those cheerful family-run outfits where functional decor & furnishings - cream hues, laminate flooring, wooden tables & narrow open plan kitchen - are the order of the day. Noteworthy are the robust Pakistani home-style tandoori items & curries. Start with the signature Nauroz chicken, which comes as a half or whole, steamed in a large pot with tender on-the-bone meat that is moist & deliciously spiced. Follow with huge portioned mains: Mari chicken is breast meat in a flavoursome black pepper sauce, while another house speciality, deigi lamb, offers supremely tender, juicy on-the-bone meat with a wonderful sauce made of yoghurt, fresh coriander, clove & other spices. Sides such as black lentils & tinda (round gourd), rice & giant sized naan breads are equally good, but desserts are unmissable. Homemade kulfi for instance (served on a stick), has a subtle ice creamy texture & is packed with nuts, while the cardamom-infused rice pudding is given a generous sprinkling of fresh pistachio & almonds. Prices are ridiculously cheap. A gem of a place.
