This sibling to the similarly monikered, similarly bijou, Kingsland Road original should fare better than its predecessor (the short-lived Sequence) – thanks to a sensible, budget makeover that
might best be described as lo-fi boho for ‘generation Wi-Fi’. Friendly Czech and Slovak staff dispense a wide selection beers from the former union (Gambrinus, Krusovice, Kozel etc), plus fair wine
at around £16 and a list of cocktails from a menu in a bottle. Go for fig martini, el diabolo or ‘grasspiroisca’ (lemongrass vodka caipirinha) at £6.95, and don’t miss the bar snacks which include
some unexpected ‘savouries’ among the more familiar items: rollmops, pickled sausage and Czech pâté, anyone? DJs crank up the volume until 2am or later. With 12 years left on its lease, you should
have plenty of time to check this one out.
