Glasgow couples looking for a cool, relaxed alternative for their wedding reception should check out Sylvan, a centrally located wine bar and small plates restaurant in the city.
For those living in Glasgow who want to celebrate their big day in the city, Sylvan is a relaxed wedding venue with a focus on great food and wine. You’re welcome to book for lunch or dinner, with the option to take over the entire venue or just the private dining room. The private dining space is called La Cave and can cater for up to 20 people around a central table, so you really feel like you’re gathering your nearest and dearest shoulder to shoulder.
Interiors wise, Sylvan nods to natural materials, warm colours and a mid-century feel. Features include rustic, exposed brick walls, plenty of plants and lots of natural light, with a glass-fronted facade. The shelves of wine bottles are striking and create a cosy, lived-in feel.
As for the food, Sylvan is vegetarian, so this venue will really appeal to vegetarian couples and guests. The team can work with you on a set menu for your special day, but why not get some inspiration by looking through previous menus, where you’ll find examples of creative small plates that can be shared all together, family style.
Nibbles might include baba ganoush with almonds, cashews with seaweed salt or flatbreads, before moving on to sharing plates such as chopped salad with peanuts and basil, alongside green beans with tomato and herbs, as well as smoked tomatoes with yoghurt and chilli butter. The polenta with mushrooms sounds especially delicious, as does the fried goat’s cheese with beetroot chutney.
Desserts steal the show, too. Think coconut rice pudding with cherries and red wine, pumpkin pie with cream and Basque cheesecake with plums.
