A fabulous city wedding has never been more popular, but with so many options across London it can be hard to find a hidden gem. Enter: Soutine, a glamorous but authentic, Parisian-style bistro in St John's Wood. Yes, it still technically ticks all the boxes of a London shindig, but tucked away in North London, it's out of the hustle bustle and close to leafy areas that give it even more charm.
From the clever people behind The Wolseley Hospitality Group, Soutine bears all the hallmarks of a Parisian boulevard café. Think Art Nouveau facade, polished wooden furniture and charming, vintage artworks that have an olde worlde feel. It's brimming with atmosphere thanks to a Champagne-hued, low lighting scheme, making it an ideal spot to bring together your favourite people in the name of love.
For your special day, the Soutine team welcome you to take a look at the private dining room which sits at the back of the restaurant. With space for up to 40 people, it's ideal for a mid-sized supper, characterised by white table cloths, spanning artworks and polished wooden walls. You're welcome to talk to the team about adding decorations, your own linens and floral arrangements, too.
As for catering, all food is provided in house and the website shares a template private dining menu for an example of what to expect. Again, you're welcome to discuss any other ideas with the team to ensure your wedding breakfast meets all of your expectations. To get a flavour, though, your meal could start with seared Scottish scallops with caramelised cauliflower purée and toasted hazelnuts, followed by fillet steak au poivre served with ratatouille and pommes purée, or perhaps chargrilled monkfish with beurre meunière. As for dessert, there's options like baked cheesecake with seasonal fruit compote as well as coupe ‘Lucian' which brings together pistachio, hazelnut and almond nougatine ice creams, with whipped cream and butterscotch sauce.
