Surrounded by peaceful Chelmsford countryside, Maidens Barn is a rustic and romantic wedding venue offering exclusive use, a wedding licence, on-site parking and accommodation. Blending traditional barn character with modern comfort, it suits both intimate celebrations and larger wedding parties.
The Oak Barn is the main ceremony space and reception room. With a high-beamed roof, whitewashed walls, large windows and French doors, it is filled with natural daylight and provides a bright, uplifting setting. Seating can be arranged in a classic aisle layout or a softer curve. The barn is named after the ancient oak tree, visible as you say your vows.
For outdoor ceremonies, the Flowering Arbour offers a romantic alternative with seating for up to 180 guests. Surrounded by gardens and open views, it is ideal for summer weddings, and proceedings can be moved indoors if needed. Couples who prefer a church service can return to Maidens Barn for their reception.
Food is prepared by the in-house chef and kitchen team using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Wedding dining packages range from bronze to gold and can include canapes, formal meals and relaxed evening food. Menus feature dishes such as vegetarian spring rolls, baked fillet of salmon, slow roasted pork belly with crispy crackling and desserts including lemon tart or bread and butter pudding. Evening options include sliders, bowl food, wood-fired pizzas, hog roast or a cheese table. Drinks packages offer wine, prosecco, champagne and cocktails.
Accommodation includes the Honeymoon Cottage, a peaceful lakeside hideaway with a super king bed and continental breakfast. Guests can stay in the Hayloft Barn, which has 14 ensuite bedrooms and a bright dining room for breakfast the following morning.
Maidens Barn offers a charming and flexible wedding setting in the Essex countryside, with everything you need to celebrate your big day.
