The Devonshire Club is the ideal location for a small city wedding. This Mayfair-styled hotel and member’s club can actually be found at Devonshire Square (just off Liverpool Street), which offers lots of opportunities for wedding photography. The building, which is a combo of a Georgian townhouse and an 18th century warehouse, also features striking design, making it a cool, but formal backdrop for your big day.
Although it offers a range of spaces for events, there are four that have a wedding license, meaning both the ceremony and breakfast can be enjoyed here. The Garden Room is our pick of the bunch: a rarity in the City, it also opens out onto a terrace, which is a nice spot for a reception – not to mention photography. The conservatory-styled room has beautiful shrubs and rattan-style furniture.
The Cocktail Bar is another sound option. This masculine-feeling room boasts some edgy design features, such as an impressive chandelier and a flamingo-feathered floor lamp. The fitted bar comes in handy, too. This can alternatively be used in combination with another space to carry out the ceremony or as a reception or break-out room.
The Cabinet Room and Boardroom 2 are both excellent for smaller wedding breakfasts, but be aware of their corporate feel. However, as they are both quite modest in their design (par the funky plastered ceilings), they allow you to really go to town with decorations.
Speaking of which, the venue has a number of suppliers it works with for flowers and decorations but it is open to you bringing your preferred suppliers in. Catering, however, is done in-house.
As there are no package deals available, every celebration will be bespoke to your needs. Some things come as standard, though; room hire starts from £4,200 including VAT, with a minimum spend of £80 per person for food and beverage.
