SquareMeal Review of Zerodegrees - Cardiff

With its microbrewery, open kitchen & roof garden, glass-fronted Zerodegrees is a justifiably popular venue that’s perfect for those who prefer their craft beers in a trendy & theatrical modern setting. The stripped-back, uncluttered interior allows plenty of room for drinkers & it’s worth lingering in the crowd if you fancy sampling the four home-brewed beers that are always on offer: a pilsner, a West Coast-style bitter, a Czech-style black lager & a cloudy wheat ale – all produced from the on-view mash tuns, pipes & other mechanical paraphernalia. There’s also an impressive list of speciality & seasonal brews including fruit beers, stout & red ale. Food includes stone-baked pizzas fresh from the oven, plus bowls of mussels, pasta dishes & salads. Just a cheer away from the Millennium Stadium.

About

Near to Cardiff's Principality Stadium, Zerodegrees Microbrewery and Restaurant offers a super experience with wood fired pizzas and dishes bursting with flavour, drawing inspiration from Italy. Complementing the food is a remarkable selection of home brewed craft beers, including core brews, unique one offs, and delicious specials, all proudly 100% Welsh brewed. Housed within a Grade II listed building, Zerodegrees Cardiff has an industrial chic aesthetic, which is spread across three distinct floors, each with its own style and Instagrammable allure.

The restaurant and bar is open five days a week, featuring two mezzanine levels that provide a captivating view of the bustling bar, restaurant, and brewery below. Those visiting can witness the craftsmanship of Pawel, the in house master brewer, at work behind the scenes. When it's sunny, two rooftop terraces offer outdoor spaces for alfresco dining, while the Tank Lounge provides a private area with a pool table and bar for meetings and events.

Thinking of food, why not enjoy a grilled vegetable board of grilled courgettes, artichoke & aubergine, roasted peperonata, tomatoes, olives, hummus, goat’s cheese, shallots, fresh rocket drizzled with basil oil and balsamic, served with warm flatbread. Then, perhaps follow up with the tequila, chicken and lime tagliatelle, mixed with coriander, carrots, red onions and sweet peppers served in cream, jalapeño and pesto, or the stirfry of marinated teriyaki chicken, egg noodles, carrots, spring onions, cashew nuts, mangetout, chillies, red peppers and fried shallots. Last but not least, If you like seafood, enjoy a kilo pot of the fresh mussels, served in one of the speciality flavours and with a side of frites - from the mariniere, creole and Thai green curry, to the thermidor, sausage and cider and nduja.
