One of a few Yard and Coop sites across the country, Yard and Coop Manchester can be found in the city’s trendy Northern Quarter in the heart of the city. With a menu of chicken in every way you could possibly imagine it, it’s a carnivore’s dream (though there is, surprisingly, also a strong selection of vegetarian and vegan options). There are the ‘OG Chicken Wings’, fried up and served smothered in buffalo and ranch, stateside BBQ, or hot honey mustard, or the sticky nuggets with salt and pepper seasoning, peanut butter and jam, or Korean fried spices.
The crux of the menu is the fried chicken plate, for which you can choose your chicken cut and sauce, as well as add on from a range of sides. There’s thigh, chicken breast, or a vegan seitan replacement, and sauces are buffalo, garlic ranch, Dr Pepper BBQ, hot honey, or blue cheese. As for fries and sides, you’ll find the likes of BBQ pulled fries, salt and pepper fries, or buttery mash and gravy, and homemade chicken gravy.
If you’re more of a burger person, there’s also a selection of burgers (with amusing names) piled high with exciting toppings. The ‘Karen’ burger is a classic buttermilk chicken burger topped with crispy bacon, slaw, lettuce and tomato, Dr Pepper BBQ sauce, and mayonnaise, and it’s one of many options on the menu that can be made vegan if diners wish. On the subject of burgers, you can’t peruse the Yard and Coop menu without your eyes being drawn to the 420 Burger – buttermilk fried chicken breast, CBD infused mango salsa, and Habanero Hot Sauce mayonnaise, topped with a gummy bear.
