WatchHouse has become pretty famous across the city, thanks to its delicious menu, chic interiors and popular locations. Now boasting 21 coffee houses, WatchHouse prides itself on no two sites being the same, each bringing their own contemporary flair to the modern coffee experience.
The Bermondsey WatchHouse is the brand's original house, which is their namesake and very own tardis, offering high-quality coffee and priding itself on the attention to detail that goes into each cup. WatchHouse embodies the ethos of thoughtful pours and rare flavour profiles, in today’s fast-moving society that puts the emphasis too highly on instant gratification.
This cosy cafe can only seat up to 10 customers at a time, but if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat, then you can sit back and relax in this minimalistic design that sees white-washed brick walls and a neutral colour palette brought to life by potted foliage. Pop in seven days a week to grab a hot coffee, tasty sandwich or a little sweet treat.
Breakfast is served daily and starts with hazelnut overnight oats made with almond butter, pumpkin seeds and blackberries, and an egg cruffin with turmeric and herb mayo, topped with watercress. The breakfast burrito is a big hit, stuffed full of chipotle black beans, scrambled egg, house salsa, cheese and avocado. If you'd prefer something a little lighter, order one of the pastries. There are plenty to choose from, including a pistachio pain au chocolat, cinnamon buns and a feta and spring onion swirl.
Lunchtime treats include the sweet potato and almond satay wrap in a spinach tortilla with avocado, spinach, carrot, spring onion and coriander, and the truffle, stracciatella and lomo ham on schiacciata bread with rocket. Other delicious choices from the bakery include a lemon polenta cake, espresso and walnut financier and cherry and almond tart.
