About

Just a short walk from Swansea’s high street and the waterfront, Wagamama Swansea at The City Gates offers a bright, open space for relaxed Pan-Asian dining. Whether you’re grabbing a bite before the cinema, meeting friends after shopping, or refuelling post-beach, the restaurant’s communal benches and open kitchen create a sociable, no-fuss atmosphere that suits every kind of occasion.

The menu is built around bold, nourishing dishes inspired by Japanese and Southeast Asian cooking. If you’re after something warming, the chicken and prawn chilli men delivers a fiery hit with stir-fried noodles, vegetables and a rich chilli oil. Further popular dishes include the duck donburi bowl served with rice, shredded veg, hoisin sauce and a runny egg for added richness. For something lighter but still satisfying, the nuoc cham tuna offers seared tuna steak with quinoa, stir-fried greens and a zingy citrus dressing.

Wagamama also offers a selection of starters and small plates made for sharing. The edamame with chilli and garlic salt is a punchy snack to kick things off, while the prawn kushiyaki - grilled skewers with lemongrass and a caramelised glaze - adds a smoky-sweet note to the table. Sides like tori kara age (crispy chicken with a soy dipping sauce) and chilli glazed cauliflower round out your meal.

Vegan options are plentiful (they comprise around half the menu) including the spicy teriyaki vegan ‘chicken’ buns and the tempeh katsu curry, which swaps meat for crispy plant-based protein in a rich curry sauce. Drinks range from fresh juices to Asian beers and cocktails, and the kids’ menu ensures little diners are taken care of, too.

Wagamama Swansea also offers outside seating during the wamer months, free Wifi, and accessibility features like disabled toilets, moveable benches and braille menus. Wagamama’s bowl return scheme - encouraging guests to recycle takeaway packaging in exchange for a complimentary side dish.
