The Wheatley Arms is based in the beautiful village of Ben Rhydding, just a few minutes away from the town of Ilkley. Set amongst the wonderful leafy lanes of the rural village, the large, stone pub stands elegantly atop a grassy corner looking more like a country house than a traditional pub.
The inside however, is everything you want from a traditional Yorkshire pub; large fire places sit at either end, pictures hung on all the walls and there are plenty of comfy corners to get cosy in for an afternoon, as well as a large wooden bar in the middle of the room. This provides the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the food.
The menu at The Wheatley Arms is full of comforting British pub classics, meaning that it’s a great spot for any occasion however formal or informal. Starters range from mac and cheese fritters served with green chilli jam, to cantaloupe melon with Parma ham and a mojito mint syrup.
For main courses you can opt for a North Sea fish pie, or perhaps the pan-fried Gressingham duck breast served with noodles and plum sauce. Other options include a classic burger, as well as a vegan option of spiced falafel served with broccoli fritters, smashed avocado and a sweet chilli ketchup. There are also different specials available every day as well as a full children’s menu.
On top of this there is a full Sunday roast offered every week using locally farmed meat. More unusually for a pub, The Wheatley Arms also has a comprehensive breakfast menu available every morning packed full of classics such as porridge, eggs benedict, and bacon ciabatta.
This is all of course accompanied by a wide selection of different drinks including weekly changing guest ales, local beers, and a range of spirits as well as an impressive wine list.
