Like many other charming haunts in the beautiful Cotswolds, The Somerford Arms is a popular, family run pub that sits in the beautiful village of Little Somerford. Scott and Rachel's team are all about creating an atmosphere that makes you feel like home, and invites you to stay and relax. Children, dogs, and the whole family are welcome at The Somerford Arms, and all are encouraged to come as themselves, kick back and enjoy.
Begin with a sharing board for two (although we can't promise that there won't be squabbles), like the baked camembert with honey, almonds, a red onion chutney and homebaked warm bread, or a Salt Pig charcuterie that includes salami, collar, smoked ham, sobrasada, parmesan, pickles, olive and even more warm bread.
Single portion small plates range from the classics like a homemade seasonal soup and free range chicken Caesar salad, to a trio of local beets with whipped feta and pomegranates, and halloumi fries in molasses with honey and black sesame. Classic pub meals include the likes of panko monkfish scampi, a steak and ale pie with creamy mash and crispy shallots, and Cornish beer battered haddock with triple cooked chips, lemon, mushy peas, curry sauce and tartare sauce.
If you’re in the market for something a bit more unusual, look at the special plates section, and enjoy a tasty dish prepared with seasonal ingredients. Feast on a lamb shank with red wine and rosemary gravy, black pudding, braised red cabbage and creamy mash, or the root vegetable risotto made with squash, crispy kale, creme fraiche, roasted walnuts and a parmesan crumb. Don't skip dessert – hang around for something sweet and order the Jamaican stem ginger and lemon treacle sponge, with rum soaked raisins and vanilla ice cream.
