About

The Pharmacy brings a true farm-to-table ethos to the heart of Bruton, with a menu that changes daily according to the harvest from the restaurant’s two working farms. Owned by Merlin Labron-Johnson, the chef behind Michelin-starred Osip, and now led by joint head chefs Zsuzsanna Toth and Marc Ackland, this intimate cafe, wine bar and restaurant celebrates Somerset produce through thoughtful, ingredient-led cooking. Just a short walk from Bruton station, it’s equally suited to a leisurely lunch, relaxed dinner or special occasion.

The ever-changing menu is guided by what’s growing in the fields and arriving fresh from trusted local producers. Freshly baked Landrace sourdough is served alongside Westcombe charcuterie made just up the road, while seasonal dishes might include broad bean crostini, Tokyo turnips picked fresh from the restaurant’s own farm and crisp Caesar salad.

Homemade gnocchi and fettuccine are prepared in-house every day, with dishes such as gnocchi with peas and Caerphilly cheese or fettuccine with tomato and bottarga showcasing the kitchen’s commitment to traditional techniques. Larger plates continue the seasonal approach with hake with lentils and salsa verde, while desserts such as panna cotta with farm strawberries highlight the restaurant’s homegrown produce.

With seating for just 16 guests, the dining room feels more like eating in someone’s thoughtfully curated home than a traditional restaurant. An open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs at work, while mismatched wooden tables and vintage chairs add to the relaxed atmosphere. Soft sage green walls, open timber shelving lined with handmade ceramics, bunches of dried flowers hanging from overhead racks and warm wooden floors create a simple, rustic aesthetic that reflects the restaurant’s connection to the surrounding countryside. A carefully curated wine list sits alongside soft drinks and hot drinks.
