The Lost Boy occupies a beautifully restored Grade II-listed Georgian building on Downing Street in Farnham, dating back to 1717. The name is a nod to J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, a tribute to the author's local connection to the town, and playful touches of Neverland run through the interior detail.
Rather than the pub classics you might expect from the setting, the kitchen takes a Mediterranean approach: hand-crafted Esposito pizzas from the wood-fired oven are a signature, alongside pasta and dishes cooked over a Josper charcoal grill. The menu runs from breakfast through to dinner, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options woven throughout.
Drinks-wise, there's a well-chosen wine list, local ales and Fuller's beers, a cocktail list that starts with an Aperol or Hugo Spritz, and a good range of artisan teas and coffees.
Inside, original Georgian character has been carefully preserved, including two reinstated period fireplaces and elegant panelling, with a grand central staircase linking the ground and first floors. The space takes in a bar, a main dining area and a light-filled conservatory, plus an upstairs private room for events. Outside, the garden and terrace were designed by RHS Chelsea Gold medallist Kate Gould, with umbrella trees and pergolas creating intimate corners that stretch down towards the river.
