About

The Ivy and Chester feel like a very natural pairing. Set within the city's historic walls on Newgate Street, just a short walk from Chester Cathedral, The Ivy Chester Brasserie brings the familiar glamour of The Ivy Collection to one of the North West's most picturesque cities.

Like its sister restaurants, The Ivy Chester is designed to impress. The interiors are richly layered, combining botanical prints, polished brass details, jewel-toned seating and soft lighting to create a space that feels both elegant and welcoming. Large windows flood the dining room with natural light during the day, while the atmosphere becomes warmer and more intimate as evening falls. In warmer months, the terrace is a gorgeous spot to settle in over drinks and dinner.

The menu follows The Ivy's tried-and-tested formula: classic British favourites sitting comfortably alongside globally inspired dishes. To start, there are plenty of crowd-pleasers, from the twice-baked cheese soufflé finished with black truffle to potted shrimp with seasoned butter and granary toast. The Ivy Classic Crispy Duck Salad remains one of the group's signature dishes, while roast queen scallops with potato rösti and Parmesan emulsion provide something a little more indulgent.

Main courses range from comforting classics to lighter, contemporary options. The Ivy Classic Shepherd's Pie continues to be a bestseller for good reason, while the traditional fish and chips delivers exactly the sort of polished pub comfort food diners expect. Elsewhere, there's a fragrant monkfish and prawn Keralan curry, teriyaki salmon with Tenderstem broccoli and yuzu mayonnaise, and a beautifully presented roasted lamb rump with crushed peas, broad beans and pesto. Steak lovers are also well catered for, with everything from rib-eye on the bone to fillet steak served with truffle hollandaise. Finally, desserts continue the indulgent theme, whether that's a rich chocolate mousse, a mango rum baba or The Ivy's much-loved frozen berries topped with warm white chocolate sauce.
