Call The Hanging Bat to make a booking on:
Is it a pub? Is it a café? In truth, the Hanging Bat is a bit of both, with the bonus of wines, down-home US food, artisan coffees, home-baked cakes and even a pilot home-brewery. Set up by two
young enthusiasts, it offer a prodigious range of quaffs: six cask ales, 14 keg lines, more than 120 bottles and cans from around the globe and even a Scottish cider (from Waulkmill’s) – not to
mention 40 gins and myriad soft drinks (including Edinburgh-brewed Roots soda). To encourage serious sampling, brews are sold in one-third or two-thirds of a pint measures. The food is trendy stuff
from the BBQ, smoker and griddle – look for pulled pork rolls, spicy wings, fiery hot dogs and themed burgers named after Meatloaf’s big hits (the haggis version is called Razor’s Edge).
