The Fellstone at Whitbarrow Village

The menu is inspired by the surrounding rugged landscape, and how could it not be? With the enduring beauty of the Lake District fells and mountains on your doorstep, it's no wonder that the kitchen wants to pay homage to nature's bounty. To start, enjoy some smaller plates such as roast tomato and red pepper soup served with crunchy sourdough and Fellstone herb butter, as well as Korean glazed pork belly skewers with house pickles and a cheeky side of crispy pork and potato crackling.

In the day, the open sourdough toasts are just what you need for a hearty snack. Toppings such as Cornish spiced white crab with brown crab butter and crème fraiche with apple keep things creative and indulgent, as does the sautéd wild foraged mushrooms and tarragon cream.

Main dishes vary from the comforting fish pie, done properly with quality ingredients like North Sea cod, Atlantic prawns and smoked Finnan haddock, topped with King Edward mash potato and served with teamed February greens, all the way to the Fellstone beef and bone marrow burger served with house red pepper relish, mixed lettuce and Swiss cheese. For plant-based diners the wild foraged mushroom tagliatelle pasta sounds divine, finished with chopped herbs and rich aged parmesan cream with a drizzle of chive oil. 

The space itself combines historic features like a double-heigh barn ceiling and authentic beams with lots of natural light and modern furnishings. Comfortable, aesthetically-pleasing and relaxing - it's a lovely place to be whether for an easy lunch or all evening drinks and dinner.
