Whether you fancy a bite after a hard-won round of golf or you're looking for somewhere special to book for a nice meal out in West Clandon, The Clubhouse at Clandon Regis Golf Club is a sophisticated, flavour-first choice. First off, let's start with the setting - Clandon Regis Golf Club is a swish member's club with an 18 hole par 72 course in a gorgeous location, at the foot of the Surrey Hills.
The restaurant is idyllic; large windows flood the space with light while the views look out to grassy mounds and minature lakes. It's a space with many faces: there's the famous all-day breakfast, come 2pm and the smell of sweet scones hangs in the air for afternoon tea, and in the evenings there's often game nights and events with a bustling calendar, well-loved by locals.
As for the menu, think seasonal dishes, led with an ingredient-first philosophy. In the summer, breakfast options look like classic pancakes with lemon, honey and sugar, alongside the Clandon full English with sausages, two rashers of bacon, two eggs, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms, two hash browns and bloomer toast. At The Regis Deli, bloomer sandwiches come stuffed with grilled chicken, mozarella and green pesto, or smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber, or even sweet chilli sauce and breaded chicken, served with a lightly dressed salad and crisps.
If it's just a bar bite you're after, no worries there - between halloumi fries, skin on fries and Welsh Rarebit, there's plenty to munch on. Or, book in for a proper sit down meal with mains like creamy pesto pasta, a southern fried chicken burger or breaded scampi served with skin-on fries, peas and homemade tartare sauce. For dessert, we like the sound of the Clandon Mess with summer fruits, or a hearty selection of cheese and biscuits for a savoury finish.
