The Botanist Bristol, on Bristol’s Berkeley Square, offers a real country pub experience, with all of the glitzy trimmings that you'd expect from one of the Premium Country Pub branches. The restaurant stretches out with its own courtyard, making it the ideal spot to head to in summer, where you can sit back and bask in the British sunshine.
To start, order a selection of sharing plates, like the raclette cheese fondue with spiced honey, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and artisan breads, or the slow-cooked beef croquettes with horseradish and a beef dripping sauce. Single serve starters include the pan-fried wild scallops with crispy prosciutto, thyme veloute, capers and artichoke crisps, a chicken liver and fig parfait with cherry amaretto compote, candied seeds and toasted bread, and the goats cheese whiskey glaze tatin with butternut squash, shallots, house pesto and dressed watercress.
There's always something new from the chef's daily specials, which are inspired by the season and feature a wide range of fresh flavours for you to enjoy. Try the British half rotisserie chicken with smoked garlic aioli, skin on fries, rich chicken gravy and finished with BBQ or spiced honey. Super tasty! There's also a very popular British steak and malbec pie with sauteed green beans, tenderstem broccoli, chive mashed potato and rich gravy, and a caramelised banana blossom stew with chickpea, lentils, spinach, aubergine and house pesto.
There are plenty of premium steak cuts, burgers, stonebaked pizzas and more to choose from, along with exceptional sides. We'd find it hard to say no to the billionaire's fries, topped with parmesan, prosciutto and truffle flavour mayonnaise. For dessert, try the home-baked valrhona chocolate brownie with amaretti biscuit crumb, chocolate sauce and bourbon vanilla ice cream, or the baked apple tart with a puff pastry shell, layers of apple slices, toffee sauce and viola.
