The Barrington Boar is an award-winning gastropub and restaurant located in the picturesque village of Barrington in Somerset. Under the stewardship of husband-and-wife team Alasdair Clifford and Victoria Collins since June 2018, The Barrington Boar has garnered acclaim for its refined yet approachable modern British cuisine. Chef Alasdair, a Somerset native with over a decade of experience in Michelin-starred kitchens including Chez Bruce and The Glasshouse, leads the kitchen with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Menus showcase the best of the region, featuring produce from nearby farmers, foragers, brewers, and cheesemongers. Dishes change regularly to reflect the seasons, while ensuring they remain fresh and dynamic.
Lunch and evening a la carte menus are available Wednesday to Saturday, while a Menu of the Day, and Chef's Menu, are available at certain times throughout the week. The Barrington Boar has also earned a reputation for serving a fantastic Sunday roast.
Examples of dishes include British asparagus salad with whipped Westcombe's ricotta, parmesan crisps and herb vinaigrette, or slow cooked lamb shoulder with baby leeks, new potatoes and wild garlic salsa.
Complementing the food is a well-curated selection of beverages, including local ales, ciders, craft beers, gins, and English sparkling wines, all sourced from the south west. The pub's commitment to local sourcing extends to its four elegant bed and breakfast rooms, housed in a converted skittle alley overlooking the garden. These rooms feature en-suite facilities and are stocked with items from local independent producers.
