The Alchemist Oxford is an international restaurant and experimental cocktail bar with incredible views over Oxford. Positioned on the rooftop level of the Westgate Centre shopping and leisure complex, it serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Known for its theatrical approach to drinks, it is a popular choice for birthday celebrations, date nights, family meals and special occasions.
Breakfast and brunch balance classic plates with inventive options. The Full Alchemist sits alongside breakfast burritos, chicken and waffles, French toast and maple bacon pancakes, while eggs Benedict and Florentine offer more traditional choices. Drinks follow a similar creative direction, including white chocolate and mint frappe and turmeric and spicy mango latte.
The Alchemist menu continues the experimental theme. Liquid Starters are miniature cocktails served on beds of ice, including the Cosmic Oyster made with Bombay gin, limoncello, yuzu and passion fruit pearls. Snacks include chorizo and cheddar dough balls, edamame beans and Guinness rarebit, while small plates range from crispy gyozas and cauliflower bites to spicy fried chicken and salt and shake potatoes.
Sharing platters combine delicacies including buttermilk chicken, tempura prawns and vegetable gyozas, alongside a plant based sharers and duck pancakes for two. Larger dishes include tempura fish and chips, katsu curry, ribeye steak and lobster mac and cheese. Smoking boards arrive on hot skillets and are assembled fajita style with beef fillet steak, barbecue chicken or plant based goujons.
Cocktails arrive in an array of unconventional vessels, from test tube style serves with dry ice to drinks finished with a syringe of liquid, which guests add to their drink at the table. The Colour Changing One, Bubblebath, Dead Red Zombie, Cherry Bomb and Screwball sit among flaming serves and customisable elixirs. A long illuminated bar, pendant lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows complete the dramatic setting.
