About

The Alchemist is known for its theatrical, colourful cocktails. This is the place to come if you like your drinks with extra smoke and bubbles, or even a few flames on top. However, The Alchemist also serves plenty of food and traditional cocktails. The inside of the Liverpool location is decorated in the chain’s signature, geometric style and has high, wide windows overlooking the city. The bar is (of course) the centre of the room, so wherever you sit you can see the venue’s signature drinks being made.

If you fancy some cocktails in the morning, try The Alchemist’s regular and bottomless (or ‘boundless’ as the restaurant calls it) brunch menu. Available weekends from 10am-2pm, diners can choose from a selection of three cocktails and classic brunch dishes. For a Southern Californian start to the day, try the breakfast burrito, which comes with bacon, egg and cheese, as well as hash browns. Or, for a more North Western start to the day, try the full English which comes with Bury black pudding and plenty of buttered toast. Brunch runs on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am-2pm. If you’re visiting The Alchemist with kids, don’t worry the restaurant offers a full ‘Apprentice Menu’ for younger diners. There is a separate ‘Apprentice Menu’ brunch or the main menu, and it includes vegetarian and vegan options.

During lunchtime or evenings, diners can enjoy anything from some light nibbles to a whole steak. The whole menu has recently (October 2021) been revamped, so if you’ve visited before it is worth checking out the online menu to see what’s new. Particularly popular additions are the gua bao, folded Taiwanese steamed buns filled with pulled pork or deep fried broccoli. The restaurant also serves bar food favourites, like chicken wings, popcorn chicken, calamari and pork crackling. If you’re gluten free you will have plenty of options as the team at The Alchemist have developed a whole separate menu, which includes gluten free and vegan as well as sharing options.
