Market House in Altrincham is part of an inspiring project, and is where you’ll find the Tender Cow vendor. With a history dating back to 1879, this market hall has undergone a transformative refurbishment, now filled with independent and passionate food and drink vendors from across the North West. Here is where you can find a communal table and indulge in the popular honest crust sourdough pizza, crafted by the renowned Sir Richard Carver, using the finest seasonal produce sourced from small independent food retailers. If you want to enjoy dishes from Tender Cow at Market House, the ethos is inclusive and welcoming — come one, come all, no need to make a booking, just show up, grab a seat and order.
Breakfast is served from 9 until 11.30am, and begins with sourdough toast with Jeremy Jackson butter and seasonal jam, and also features a house beef sausage bun with tomato jam, fried eggs, smoked cheese and bacon. Other breakfast dishes include the merguez sausages with hash browns, sumac onions and fried eggs, and Isle of Wight tomatoes on toast with tarragon vinaigrette, poached eggs and whipped garlic yoghurt.
Brunch plates are a bit bigger and include the classic pairing of steak and eggs with hot sauce and a green onion sauce, along with mutton merguez sausages, cheeseburgers and a steak sandwich. If you happen to be visiting at dinner, try the flat iron steak with triple cooked chips, garlic butter and chimichurri, or whole chargrilled fish with lemon aioli and chargrilled veg.
There are of course plenty of delicious sides, from the English leaf salad with a smoked rapeseed dressing and of course, the classic side of triple cooked chips.
