Tamila Soho is the third and most central of the Tamila restaurants, bringing its contemporary, playful take on the classic curry house to the heart of the West End. From the team behind The Tamil Prince - Glen Leeson and Prince Durairaj - this third London site builds on the success of Tamila’s King’s Cross and Clapham Junction restaurants, translating their South Indian focus into a more central, celebratory setting that suits group dining particularly well.
Tamila is rooted in familiar rituals: rotis ordered to the table, curries shared communally, cold beers and cocktails that carry you from early evening into later plans. At its core, it’s a modern interpretation of the UK's much loved curry houses, shaped through the lens of South Indian cooking and craftsmanship. The Soho site will be the brand’s most considered expression yet, spread across two floors with a lively ground-floor bar and dining space, plus a basement level designed with private dining and group celebrations in mind.
The menu centres on Prince Durairaj’s South Indian heritage, drawing from Tamil Nadu and beyond. Expect cult Tamila signatures such as made-to-order roti and deeply flavoured curries, including Thanjavur chicken curry and Chettinad lamb curry. Small plates join the line-up alongside an expanded bread offering with garlic coriander naan and kulcha, as well as tandoor-cooked meat and vegetarian dishes. It’s a format that naturally encourages sharing, making it an easy choice for friends and family gatherings. Drinks follow the same thoughtful approach. Indian-spiced cocktails include the Gunpowder Margarita, Tamil Negroni and Charcoal Old Fashioned, alongside a concise selection of draught wines.
Design plays a central role. Interiors evolve Tamila’s signature look with striking lighting, marble table tops, wooden shutters and deep purple hues throughout. The atmosphere nods to the warmth and generosity associated with Indian restaurants, while feeling forward-thinking.
Set in one of London’s most energetic dining neighbourhoods, Tamila Soho feels well placed for pre-theatre dinners, birthdays and big group bookings alike. It’s sociable, generous and built for sharing, which is exactly what a modern curry house should be.
