Somer Dining occupies a unique position in the culinary landscape, bringing fine-dining excellence to the heart of Keynsham's innovative Chocolate Quarter development.
Located at Brookmead, Trajectus Way, this remarkable restaurant sits on historically significant grounds - the site of the former Somerdale Factory, once home to Fry's and later Cadbury's, where some of the world's most famous chocolate bars were created. The restaurant's location couldn't be more convenient, positioned just a five-minute walk from Keynsham railway station with regular services to both Bristol and Bath.
At Somer, the culinary philosophy centres on working closely with local producers to create seasonal menus featuring excellent produce. The restaurant was developed with input from Josh Eggleton, chef patron of The Pony & Trap, and Adrian Kirikmaa, food development manager at St Monica Trust, ensuring the highest culinary standards. This collaboration shows in every dish, creating a dining experience that has impressed even the most discerning food critics. The menu showcases contemporary British cuisine with starters like mushroom soup and wild mushrooms on sourdough, as well as mains like ham, egg and chips; coq au vin; and rainbow heritage tomato tart. There is also a classic Sunday lunch menu featuring roast beef, lemon and herb chicken breast, and vegetable wellington. To finish, there’s desserts like bread and butter pudding, and vanilla panna cotta.
The food is complemented by a fully stocked bar offering an extensive range of wines, craft beers, ciders, gins and other spirits. The restaurant operates with limited opening hours, making reservations essential.
What sets Somer Dining apart is its community-focused approach and its unique setting creates an atmosphere that's both sophisticated and welcoming, earning praise from critics who note how it brings families together around exceptional food.
