Set within The Old Nun’s Head on Nunhead Green, Slice Circle has taken over the kitchen with its popular New York-style pizzas. Found on Nunhead Green, The Old Nun's Head itself has been welcoming guests since the 17th century, and has the most charming look to it. Today, it’s best known as a welcoming pub and hub for local residents and the queer community.
Created by Angus Whitfield and Methun Chelvan, Slice Circle focuses on crisp, foldable NYC-inspired slices topped with high-quality ingredients and plenty of flavour. The duo bring experience from some of London’s best-loved pizza kitchens, combining classic slice-shop influences with creative specials and house-made touches.
The menu features signature pies including the ‘Cheese Pie’ with fior di latte, provolone, British hard cheese and basil; the ‘Pep Pie’ topped with pepperoni, oregano and pecorino; and the ‘Nun Pie’ loaded with soppressata, whipped ricotta and hot honey. For something a little different, the ‘Tamil Pie’ pairs masala vodka sauce with red onion, lemon yoghurt and coriander. Alongside the pizzas, expect rotating specials and house tiramisu.
The Old Nuns Head offers a variety of lagers and ales that will go perfectly with punchy pizza toppings, plus the bar staff make a mean spicy Margarita. If you just can’t wait to get your hands on one of these pizzas, remember that there are no reservations here, just walk-ins.
