You may have heard of Six by Nico’s unique and impressive restaurants by now, as they’re popping up all across the country. The idea behind Six by Nico Edinburgh is simple; allowing guests to experience a six course tasting menu that's inspired by a theme – whether that’s a location, a memory, or a concept. The menu continues to change every six weeks, which keeps fans of Six by Nico coming back for more. Just off Edinburgh’s famous Princes Street, in the New Town, Six by Nico is open weeklong, serving from midday until late.
As the menus change often, you'll always find something new at Six by Nico, but can expect to be delighted with whatever menu you visit for. Previous themes have included Murder on the Midnight Express experience, which begins with a first course titled ‘Crime Scene’. It also offered a goat's cheese mousseline with salted and pickled raspberry, and heirloom beetroot, before course two, named ‘Room 36’, a dish of smoked ham hough terrine with pork blanquette, tarragon oil and vegetables a la grecque. ‘The Restaurant’ features tartiflette with pommes Anna, smoked bacon jam and comte royal, before the Oyster Bar course of poached sole with burnt apple, cauliflower puree and tartare sauce.
If you want to really treat yourself, there’s the choice to add on two crisp oysters with roast garlic emulsion. Elsewhere, you'll find the likes of chicken ballotine with Jerusalem artichoke, charcoal emulsion and truffle cafe au lait. Another add-on is Chef Gustave's Special, a dish of brie de meaux with spiced date cake and hot truffle honey. Dessert is a coffee lover's dream, with tiramisu paired with chocolate cremeux, warm vanilla espuma and delicate coffee sponge.
