Satyrio is an Italian restaurant and wine merchant located on Aldgate High Street in East London. Laid out like a relaxed trattoria, Satyrio offers a hearty Italian menu, boasting authentic cuisine paired with a selection of fine Italian wines. The interiors are cosy and simple, perfect for a relaxing meal out on the weekend, or a midweek treat when you don’t want to do the cooking.
The main menu leads with an appetiser selection, including burrata with roasted pepper, rocket, peanuts and topped with balsamic vinegar, along with deep fried calamari in tartar sauce and lime, and grilled courgettes with Neapolitan sweet provolone. We think a great Italian pays great detail to the pasta dishes, and Satyrio does just that. You can choose from a swordfish fusilli dish with Roman artichoke, pine nuts and raisins, a simple gnocchi in tomato sauce with basil and mozzarella, and a rather unusual yet tempting choice of tagliatelle with chocolate venison ragu.
Main dishes aside from pasta choices are just as spectacular, with so many exciting flavours to explore. There's a Mediterranean inspired seafood stew, seared hanger steak in homemade yoghurt and aubergine puree, and burnt celeriac ravioli with an aubergine parmigiana filling. Enhance your meal with the addition of fine sides, like the buttered baby carrots with caramelised seeds, or the rocket salad with cherry tomatoes and 36 month aged parmesan.
End things on a high with traditional Italian desserts that come with a more contemporary spin. We'd head for the amaretto tiramisu or the lime, mint and rum panna cotta. Wash everything down with a selection of bottles from across the continent, with an extensive collection of red, white and sparkling wines.
