Hale may be a small, quaint village resting on the edge of Greater Manchester, but it's not all pubs and tea rooms - as much as we love those! Here, Riva Hale brings elevated dining, a roving fine art collection, stylish interiors and a programme of live music and Saturday-evening DJ sets.
Since taking over the venue at the end of 2024, the team have put their everything into developing Riva Hale's concept including new menus and an expertly curated wine list. And, it's worked - locals love it here and there are reams of online reviews singing its praises.
Across the menus you'll find options for day, evening and Sunday lunch. While these change with the seasons, an example of what to expect might include starters such as roast pork belly with rhubarb kimchi, sushi rice, turnip and pork broth, or perhaps asparagus and crème fraiche pannacotta with Lancashire bomber sablé, apple and radish salad.
For mains, it's hard to deny the appeal of the roast chicken supreme with truffled leeks, sarladaise potato and carrot, while for vegetarian diners the hazelnut crusted cauliflower with golden raisin and caper, ratte potato and brassicas is hard to beat. Looking for something a little simpler? The crispy beer battered haddock with triple cooked chips and crushed peas ought to hit the spot.
Across the grill section, you'll find lobster served with luxurious truffle, parmesan fries and samphire, as well as fillet, ribeye and sirloin steaks, and oysters cooked over coals. As for sides, add some buttered mash, tenderstem brocolli and fennel salad, to complete this stunning combination. For those with a sweet tooth, the sticky toffee pudding sounds gorgeous and is served with clotted cream, or there's chocolate mousse with salted caramel and coffee.
But, it's not just about the food. Every Thursday Riva Hale hosts a live music night which brings atmosphere and conviviality, as well as options for venue hire and private dining if you're celebrating.
