About

A local favourite, the Old Wharf Inn was established in 2019 as an independently owned canalside pub and restaurant - it’s since become a firm favourite in the heart of the community. The pub restaurant and beer garden are open seven days a week, and meals are served right through from breakfast.

At breakfast time you can order Bloody Marys or Mimosas, along with coffee and pots of tea. Plates include a grilled Belgian waffle topped with smoky streaked bacon, fried eggs and maple syrup, and poached eggs on sourdough with butcher's smoked bacon, roasted plum tomatoes and watercress. Nibbles on the main menu include a Dave Wither's pork pie, Cobble Lane charcuterie and salted Valencia almonds.

The small plates look too good to choose from, with options of burrata topped with charred pears, roasted hazelnuts, wild rocket and chicory, and Welsh rarebit with a Worcestershire sauce and cornichons. If we were feeling particularly indulgent, we'd find it impossible to resist the slow cooked beef brisket with creamy parmesan polenta, and the spinach and ricotta ravioli in a brown sage butter. Diving into the main dishes, there’s cod fillet with slow roasted tomato, white bean and chorizo sauce, pickled fennel and toasted brioche pangrattato, a classic chicken, ham hock and leek pie with creamy mash, grilled tenderstem broccoli and gravy, and mushroom risotto with a sautéed woodland mix, roasted pine nuts, white truffle oil and shaved grana padano.

Sweet treats should never be ignored, and there are so many fantastic desserts to choose from at The Old Wharf Inn. There’s a bramley apple and cranberry crumble with oat and hazelnut crumb, served with salted caramel ice cream, sticky ginger loaf with butterscotch sauce and clotted vanilla ice cream, and maple and vanilla poached pear with crunchy peanut brittle and chantilly cream.
