NH44 Cafe, Bar and Restaurant in Gravesend serves authentic Indian food for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The child-friendly venue offers relaxed dining suited to everything from casual family meals to celebrations and evening dining.
Founded by Siva and Vani, who moved to London from Chennai and Hyderabad more than 20 years ago, NH44 takes inspiration from the food and flavours found across India. Menus are divided between cafe, bar and restaurant dining, giving guests the choice between lighter bites, traditional curries and South Indian specialities throughout the day.
The daytime menu features dishes such as onion bhajis, chicken pakoda, masala chips and aloo samosas alongside all-day breakfasts, omelettes, jacket potatoes and sandwiches including aloo masala toasties. Traditional South Indian dishes such as vada, idli and a wide selection of dosas also feature heavily throughout the menu, while chaat dishes and veggie burgers offer more casual lunch options.
In the evening, the offering expands into more traditional Indian dining with poppadoms, paneer dishes, fish fry and a broad selection of vegetarian, meat and seafood curries. Guests can also choose from rice dishes, Hakka noodles, naans and rotis, while desserts include chocolate brownie and vegan cookie bomb. Vegetarian options are available throughout the menu, helping make the restaurant well suited to groups with different dietary preferences.
The drinks menu ranges from coffees, frappes, milkshakes and masala chai to cocktails, mocktails, premium spirits, beers, wines and liqueurs, allowing the venue to transition naturally from daytime cafe to evening dining spot.
Inside, NH44 keeps the focus firmly on the food with simple contemporary interiors featuring tiled floors, wooden tables and chairs and windows running around the dining space, which flood the restaurant with natural daylight during breakfast and lunch sittings. The atmosphere feels casual and welcoming, allowing the colourful dishes and vibrant flavours to take centre stage.
