Pizza Express has introduced a ‘bottomless pizza’ deal for the first time ever across its 360 UK restaurants, giving diners the chance to enjoy unlimited pizza for a fixed price.
Launching today, the deal is designed to boost bookings during quieter ‘shoulder’ periods, with the offer available between the liminal times of 2pm and 5pm.
The ‘Pizza O Clock’ promotion includes 90 minutes of unlimited pizza and is priced at £17.50 a head for adults. Little ones are able to join in the fun too, with an even better value price of £10 a head for children. While guests won’t be able to choose from the full menu, the offer is available on three of the chain’s most popular pizzas, including a Margherita, American and Padana.
But does bottomless really mean bottomless? According to Pizza Express’ T&Cs, diners can order unlimited pizza within the allotted time as long as their previous pizza has been finished. They are also not allowed to order extra pizza to take home with them at the end of the session.
So, while there isn’t really a catch, as such, it's worth noting that the offer is only available for a limited time and expires at the end of the month. We expect it to be popular with families looking for things to do with the kids during the summer holidays.
Pizza Express has launched the offer in response to a recent YouGov study that revealed that 34% of Brits spend more time on their phones each week than with friends or family. The research also showed that 54% of people spend less than 90 minutes a day with friends and family.
The offer is being pitched as an incentive for friends and family to reconnect. The restaurant will be turning tables into ‘phone-free zones’, offering table-top games instead to encourage quality time.
